MACC Clarifies The Issue Of Viral Video On Allegations Of Officer’s Rough Treatment

In reference to a viral video uploaded through a Twitter account of a political party which claimed that an officer was rude and drove away members of the party from the vicinity of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) building, this Commission would like to clarify the issue in order avoid creating confusion to the public.

It should be clarified that based on the Security Area Regulation which was gazetted on the building, the MACC Security Division only allow three representatives of outside parties to enter the compound and inside the MACC building to meet the officer on duty to file their complaints.

Video and camera recordings are also not permitted within the security area without the permission of the MACC Top Management.

However, it was found that about seven out of 25 individuals in the group entered the MACC compound in pairs up to the main entrance of the building. The individuals also did not comply with the security area regulation as they were recording videos while being in the compound and building of the MACC.

The incident occured within the compound of the MACC Headquarters Putrajaya building at about 11:00 a.m today.

However, the MACC views the incident seriously and will conduct further investigation. If there is any misconduct found, this Commission will take appropriate action.

Meanwhile, the MACC also confirmed that it has received information from a member of the Parti Sosialis Malaysia, Dr. Jeyakumar Devaraj which involves allegations of malpractice in the affairs of government land in Perak. The MACC will first study and review the information before taking any further actions.

As an anti-corruption agency, the MACC welcomes the public's cooperation to go to any MACC office to file complaints related to corruption.
