Corporate Integrity Pledge (CIP)

The Corporate Integrity Pledge (CIP) was introduced in 2010 as the Government's determination to fight corruption not only in the public sector, but also in the private sector. CIP aims to institutionalize a corporate governance structure and implement ethical and corruption-free values into the country's business culture. This CIP program can be adapted to various categories and sizes of companies or organizations that are registered and incorporated and do business in Malaysia.

Participation in the Malaysian Corporate Integrity System (CISM) is a voluntary action by companies/organizations in Malaysia to demonstrate the commitment of companies and organizations in fighting corruption. By participating in this CISM, the company/organization agrees to support the 5 Anti-corruption Principles for Companies in Malaysia which are:

A CISM Corporate Integrity Roundtable (RTD) was established in 2010 to support efforts to reduce crime rates and fight corruption in the public and private sectors. The objective of establishing RTD CISM is to foster and promote ethical and corruption-free values in the national business community as well as support integrity initiatives in the business community so that the values of integrity, ethics and business responsibility are enhanced under the national anti-corruption plan, guidelines and good industry practices.

Currently, RTD CISM has eight (8) members chaired by the Malaysian Integrity Institute (IIM) and composed of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M), the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), the Malaysian Securities Commission (SC), Bursa Malaysia Berhad, Malaysian Foreign Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and the Minister of Incorporated Finance (MKD).

As one of the CISM RTD members, the MACC through the Inspection and Consultation Division is responsible as the CISM Custodian and plays a role in:

  1. Carrying out promotional activities for CISM by broadcasting information related to ethical and anti-corruption values by distributing or disseminating leaflets/brochures, info graphics and so on through various channels;
  2. Carry out due diligence and validation on companies participating in the CISM program before the certificate of participation is issued;
  3. Support implementing agencies and promoters in implementing/promoting the CISM program; and
  4. Help promote CISM implementation to all CIP signatories.

By registering, the company/organization expresses its desire and agrees to receive advisory services from CISM from time to time, especially regarding the implementation of proposed anti-corruption initiatives.

Application for company registration to follow the CISM program as well as any further information related to CISM can be accessed through the portal https://cism.iim.gov.my.
