The practice of bringing suspects to court in orange lock-up t-shirts has been discontinued. This is in line with the presumption of innocence and Article 5(1) of the Federal Constitution. While the MACC is uncompromising in eradicating corruption, in doing so we will at all times uphold the rule of law.
Handcuffs are used only where necessary, for example where there is a risk of escape or aggressive behaviour. However, handcuff usage is not permitted within the confines of any courtroom.
