THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) would like to inform that in order to strengthen and guarantee the independence of the commission, the recent meeting of the Special Cabinet Committee on Anti-Corruption (JKKMAR) has agreed on two proposed matters.

The matter is related to the appointment of the MACC Chief Commissioner and the establishment of the MACC Services Commission.

MACC is currently in the process of preparing a cabinet paper which will be presented to the Cabinet for discussion and approval.

Next, the matter will be proposed in Parliament at the earliest session if approved by the Cabinet.

Both of these proposals are new provisions in the Federal Constitution and require the support of two-thirds of MPs to be able to make amendments to the Federal Constitution.
