MACC Denies Accusation Involving Two Senior Officers

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) vehemently denies allegations made by a fake identity blog that two senior officers of the Commission are masterminds in an issue of corruption and abuse of power involving corporate companies.

The two MACC officers have been called to giveexplanation and they have subsequently filed police reportto refute the allegations.

Accordingly, MACC is confident that the matter is a wild and irresponsible accusation that was deliberately thrown at MACC officials to create a negative perception of the Commission.

However, if there is evidence, the relevant parties should come forward to make a complaint or report to the enforcement authorities and not make accusations through social media hiding behind a fake identity.

It is emphasised that the MACC does not open investigation papers arbitrarily without evidence and facts. Each investigation carried out is in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) based on the lawprovisions and monitored by five independent oversight panels.

According to the principle of separation of powers, the Attorney General's Office functions as a check and balance mechanism to ensure that only cases with strong evidence and facts are given consent to prosecute at his discretion.

In the meantime, the MACC will also not succumb to pressures from any party to divert attention away fromcorruption and embezzlement cases that are currently being actively investigated with various accusations that are deliberately fabricated.
