MACC Helps Recover RM20.5 Billion 1MDB Assets To The Malaysian Government

The Malaysian Anti -Corruption Commission (MACC) is currently pursuing the recovery of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) fund assets from inside and outside the country such as the United States, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Taiwan and Singapore.

Most recently, on 12 November 2021, the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) of Singapore made a refund of money amounting to US $ 864,813.27 belonging to the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SRC International Sdn. Bhd., Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil to the Government of Malaysia through the Assets Recovery Trust Account owned by the Ministry of Finance Malaysia.

Previously, the Government of Singapore had also assisted in the return of assets of US $ 15.4 million to Malaysia involving the account of Cutting Edge Industries Ltd. belonging to Datuk Tawfiq Ayman and Samuel Goh.

To date, the MACC with the cooperation and assistance of international enforcement agencies had successfully returned a total of RM20,530,433,626.97 to the Malaysian government.

Currently, the MACC is in the process of recovering assets from countries such as Switzerland, Kuwait, Mauritius, Cyprus and Hong Kong involving individuals linked to the 1MDB case.
