Frozen Meat Cartel Issue : MACC Actively Completing Investigation
REGARDING the issue of the frozen meat cartel being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the Commission would like to inform that since 4 January until now, a total of eight suspects have been remanded to assist the investigation.
In addition, a total of 27 witnesses were also called during the investigation of this case. Those who were involved consist of company employees, import agents and government officials.
The MACC is investigating the case in accordance with the MACC Act 2009 that focuses on giving bribes, submitting false claims and offences related to the forgery of documents.
Currently, the MACC is actively conducting investigations by analysing information, gathering evidence and will make several more arrests to solve the investigation.
Meanwhile, on 17 January 2021, the MACC Johor Office has arrested a 36-year-old company director in Johor Bahru and the suspect was remanded for six days effective today after a remand application was allowed by the Johor Bahru Magistrate Court.
