UniKL Committed To Fight Against Corruption


KUALA LUMPUR, 23 July – Members of the University Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) are committed with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in implementing various initiatives to create a society with integrity and free from corruption.

The MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Azam Baki said that anti-corruption education is the backbone of forming an integrity-based community.

“The process of cultivating an integrity-based culture and hatred of corruption must start at home, followed by at school and then at higher education institutes,” he said.

He added that this commitment is highly appreciated as a sincere sign from UniKL to cultivate values and to create a culture that denounces corruption among its workforce and students.

Datuk Seri Azam Baki said this during his speech while officiating the Launching Ceremonies of the Integrity and Corruption Course at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), the Integrity and Corruption Book Module as well as the Integrity and Governance Unit (IGU) Website at Dewan Bestari, UniKL Kampus Kota.

This launching ceremony was held synchronously at 12 UniKL campuses nationwide.

The introduction of the Integrity and Corruption Course at 12 UniKL campuses brings the total to 15 Higher Education Institutions that offer this course nationwide.

Meanwhile, UniKL is also the leading private university that has established the Integrity and Governance Unit (IGU).

The purpose of IGU is to ensure all employees practice an ideal work culture with strong moral characters and etiquettes. This initiative will be able to curb corruption misconduct, abuse of power and misappropriation.

In attendance were MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention), Dato’ Shamshun Baharin Mohd Jamil; Director General of MARA, Dato‘ Azhar Abdul Manaf, Chairman of UniKL, Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Sukiman Sarmani; Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud; Director of MACC Community Education Division, TPj Razim Mohd Noor; Head of Integrity and Governance Unit of UniKL, Abdul Latif Osman as well as Directors of MACC States and Divisions.
