MACC Recognized As World-Class Anti-Corruption Agency Amidst Globalisation

PUTRAJAYA, 25 AUGUST- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission will have to adapt its approaches over time in accordance with global developments in order for this Commission to be recognized as a world-class anti-corruption agency.

The MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Azam Baki said that the operation sector will place emphasis on corruption cases involving leakage of government funds, high-impact corruption crimes and cases involving public interest and high profile issues.

“Despite the constraints such as lack of budget and personnel, this challenge is not an obstacle for the MACC to continue the fight against corruption.”

“Therefore, it is hoped that members of the MACC's independent monitoring bodies will provide their views and assist the MACC so that the mission and vision of this Commission can be achieved as prescribed," he said.
He mentioned this in his speech during the launching of the Onboarding Program and Specific Briefing to the MACC 2020 Independent Monitoring Body at the Auditorium of MACC Headquarters here, today.

There was also a briefing from the Governance Integrity and Anti-Corruption Centre (GIACC) regarding the progress of the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) 2019-2023.
Also in attendance were Director of GIACC, Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed; MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Management and Professionalism), Dato’ Junipah Wandi and the Directors of Divisions and MACC Senior Officers.
