MACC Chief Commissioner Presents Opening Speech at KINK 2020

KOTA BHARU, 4 Oct. - Leakage often occurs in the public sector especially at the decision making level that has the authority to decide on a government procurement, said the Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Datuk Seri Azam Baki.

He said that while presenting the opening speech during the Kelantan State Integrity Convention (KINK) 2020 that was held at the Kelantan State Secretary Complex.

“When a government procurement leakage occurs, MACC's investigation will reveal that there are corruption elements that fluctuates the value of a government procurement", he said.

Datuk Seri Azam added that in order to prevent this, MACC needs the cooperation and support in preventing corruption from various parties and asking the public to come forward and report to MACC with the guarantee that the information and identity of the informer will be protected.

The convention with the ‘Integriti As Pillar For Organisational Management Excellence' theme was hosted by the Kelantan State Secretary Office, in collaboration with MACC Kelantan and the Certified Integrity Officer Association (ACeIO).

The Kelantan State Goverment hosted the KINK 2020 to celebrate the National Integrity Day that is on 5 November every year with various activities such as the Corporate Liability S17A MACC Act 2009 briefing, Integrity Dialog Program, Integrity and Corruption Free Pledge and the Kelantan Anti-Corruption Plan Launching Ceremony (KACP) 2020 – 2024. In attendance were the Kelantan State Secretary, YB Dato’ Nazran Muhammad; Chief Executive of the National Financial Crime Centre (NFCC), Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali; MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention), Dato' Sri Shamshun Baharin Mohd Jamil; Petronas Chief Integrity Officer, Dato' Rohaizad Yaakob and Director of MACC Kelantan, PKPj Rosli Husain.
