KUALA LUMPUR, 4 Sept -MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Seri Norazlan Mohd Razali has called for strengthening the role of the Integrity and Governance Unit (IGU) to manage corruption risks in the organisation.

The partnership was presented at "Fostering Governance and Integrity: Best Practices from Government Interest Companies" session, in conjunction with Integrity Day 2023 PROLINTAS, attended by 200 participants representing the 'Government Interest Companies' (GIC) at M Resort Hotel.

Datuk Seri Norazlan said cases of corruption and abuse of power in the private sector have increased in contrast to previous years and therefore, the function of the IGU should be strengthened to combat such crimes.

"The risk of corruption can be at any level in the organisation, therefore efforts such as anti-corruption education and dissemination of information about corruption and its impact on the organisation should be intensified from time to time.

He said that if these efforts are intensified and done together, corruption cases in the country decrease perchance and the leakage of funds can be avoided.

Also present at the presentation was PETRONAS Chief Integrity Officer, KPKPj Mohamad Zakkuan Talib; Vice President, Governance, Risk and Compliance of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, Khairul Anuar Khalid and SME Bank Group Head of Compliance, Rosehamidi Kamaruddin.
