IBR: Briefing on the Impact of Gazetting Public Bodies and Fund Governance 2023 with Kelantan Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM)

KOTA BHARU, 22 Aug – MACC together with Kelantan Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) has joined hands in Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) ceremony.

 

Prior, a briefing on Implications of Public Bodies Gazettement on LKIM and the Fishermen's Association, and Fund Governance were held, attended by 90 LKIM officers, staff members and representatives of from fishermen associations across Kelantan.

 

Delivered by PsK Wan Siti Junaida binti Ismail, Head of Community Education, MACC Kelantan, the briefing also touched on certain topics related to the gazetting of LKIM as a public body, which came into effect on May 22 this year. LKIM which is formed and registered in accordance with the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia Act 1971 [Act 49] and any Fishermen's Association established and registered in accordance with the Fishermen's Association Act 1971 [Act 44] is designated as a public body for the purposes of the Act.

 

The briefing also highlighted the provisions of section 23 of the MACC Act 2009 relating to abuse of power and malpractice including offences under sections 16, 17 and 18 of the MACC Act 2009 as well as section 165 of the Penal Code.

 

Kelantan LKIM Director, Huzaimah binti Husain, expressed her commitment to make LKIM Kelantan an agency that is free from all forms of corruption and will jointly spread the anti-corruption message in all aspects, especially involving public funds that are part of government revenue.

 

KPKPj Rosli bin Husain, MACC Kelantan Director, in his speech also hopes that the IBR pledge leaves a continuous impact in the fight against corruption and will be uphold by LKIM staff together with fishermen associations.
