Importance of Proper Management and Use of Earmarked Funds in Ensuring a Thriving Sports Industry

BUKIT JALIL, 3 August - MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Dato' Sri Haji Azam Baki emphasised the importance of proper management and use of earmarked funds, to ensure a thriving sports ecosystem in Malaysia.

 

Present at the Anti-Corruption Advocacy Programme (Financial Management and Fund) with the National Sports Agencies, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri call for financial management and governance to be managed with full responsibility and integrity.

 

"If financial and fund management is not managed properly and transparently, performance including the ability of sportsmen will be affected. This will be detrimental to the country and the quality of our country's sport will be of poor quality”.

 

Tan Sri Dato' Sri also urged the improvement of the financial system or regulation to ensure that the leakage of government funds can be avoided wholly while speaking to the attending members of the ceremony at the National Sports Council, Bukit Jalil.

 

Organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), the signing of the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) were held by the top management of the National Sports Body, led by representatives from the Malaysian Olympic Council and witnessed by the Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Hannah Yeoh who also officiated the Anti-Corruption Advocacy Programme.

 

YB Hannah Yeoh in her opening speech was also grateful for the hard work made by MACC in preventing corruption and urged all sports officials to adopt a work culture of integrity, while avoiding any elements of corruption in fund management.

 

Also present were KBS Deputy Secretary General (Strategic), Puan Ramona Mohd Razali and KBS Deputy Secretary General (Management), Tuan Haji Abdullah Hasan.
