MACC Strengthens Collaboration To Fight Corruption Together With Expatriates

KUALA LUMPUR, 9 Dec. - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) celebrated the International Anti-Corruption Day (HARA) 2021 to fight corruption in the country.

The national level of HARA 2021 targeted the expatriate professional community in the country in the effort to fight corruption together with the MACC. With the theme, "Your Right, Your Role: Say No To Corruption", the MACC shared the initiatives on anti-corruption which were implemented by the government and the commission these past few years.

The HARA 2021 celebration was held in conjunction with the declaration by the United Nations (UN) in 2003 which set 9 December every year as its date of celebration.

At the Headquarters level, a dialogue session involving the MACC Top Management together with business expatriates from 10 countries was held simultaneously at two separate locations in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor in collaboration with Malaysian Anti-Corruption Foundation (YARM), Federation of Malaysian Manufacturer (FMM), Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M) and Association of Certified Integrity Officer (ACeIO) Malaysia.

In Selangor, the HARA 2021 celebration was held at Star Media Group, Petaling Jaya which involved business expatriates representing Europe, India, China and Indonesia. The briefing and dialogue sessions highlighted initiatives on anti-corruption and included the views of expatriates on the efforts of corruption prevention in this country.

MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations), Dato’ Sri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya in his speech also hoped that the relationship between the MACC and business expatriates can be strengthened and their experiences can be of benefit to corruption prevention measures in this country.

In attendance were the MACC Director of Community Education Division Datuk Razim Mohd Noor and MACC Investigations Division Assistant Senior Director, Datuk Izani Wan Ishak.

Meanwhile, the HARA 2021 celebration in Kuala Lumpur was held at FMM, Bandar Sri Damansara which involved business expatriates representing the United States of America, European Union, Canada, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. The briefing and dialogue sessions focused on business commitment on the anti-corruption agenda.

MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention), Datuk Seri Norazlan Mohd Razali also welcomed suggestions and opinions on corruption activities in the effort to curb those acts from continuing to spread.

In attendance were MACC Director of Anti-Money Laundering Division, TPj Mohammad Zamri Zainul Abidin and MACC DIrector of Inspection and Consultation Division, KPKPj Nazli Rasyid Sulong.
