SPRM FIFA 21 Challenge New Idea From MACC Chief Commissioner

PUTRAJAYA, 1 July – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) hosted the SPRM FIFA 21 CHALLENGE e-sport championship which starts today as an effort to disseminate anti-corruption messages among youth, especially fans of the e-sport.

This online competition which was initiated by the MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Azam Baki is a two-pronged approach because anti-corruption messages and explanations about corruption in the country will also be broadcasted during the matches.

In his online video opening speech, Datuk Seri Azam said that even with the widespread Covid-19 pandemic, efforts to prevent corruption must continue.

"In line with the new normal and media explosion, this is the first joint program by the MACC and THQ Esports Club, organised through the e-sport platform that can be used as one of the medium to convey anti-corruption messages to the community, especially today’s youth.

"Furthermore, participants of the SPRM FIFA 21 CHALLENGE only have to be present at their respective locations without meeting face to face. Besides that, this program is able to assist the government’s effort to ensure Malaysians stay home to suppress the Covid-19 outbreak," he said.

He added that the program involved a total of 2,048 participants nationwide where each State and Federal Territory will have 128 participants, starting from the 1st until 16th July 2021. The winner for each state will progress to the final round on 17th of July 2021. The winner of the competition will win the grand prize worth RM20,000.

Besides that, former striker of the national Harimau Malaya squad, Safee Sali also urged the community at large to watch and participate in this competition. He conveyed the message through a gimmick in the montage video for the opening of the program which was organised virtually.

The SPRM FIFA 21 CHALLENGE is broadcasted live through the official Facebook page of Team Haq Esports Club and SPRM Community.
