MACC Organised The 2nd International Training Programme With IAACA

PUTRAJAYA, 29 June – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has organised The 2nd International Joint Training Program with the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) for two days starting from today until 30th June 2021.

This year, the MACC was honoured to host the program virtually, where the first time the program was implemented on the 24th and 25th of May 2019 at the headquarters of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), Hong Kong.

The MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Azam Baki in his keynote address mentioned that this training session has successfully gathered a total of 400 participants from 50 countries representing 64 organisations through the 'Zoom' application following the current Covid-19 pandemic situation.

“Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has conducted several types of movement control and the availability of online training programs can provide opportunities for participants to gain and improve our knowledge, "he said.

“That is why, when planning the agenda of such a training program, I need to ensure that the topics selected must be up-to-date and have an impact which cover the scope of operations, prevention and education to ensure that all levels of anti-corruption officers can benefit from the training program."

He added, the experts who will speak and discuss the topics are also from various backgrounds such as law enforcement agencies, civil servants, regulators, academicians, compliance officers from Fortune 500 companies as well as award winning and international anti-corruption journalists.

Apart from Datuk Seri Azam, the Chief of Corruption and Economic Crime Branch, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Ms. Brigitte Strobel-Shaw and IAACA Secretary General, Dr. Thomas Peran also delivered their speeches during the first session.

A total of six presenters including from Malaysia discussed various anti-corruption issues relating to operations, education and prevention.

Also present was the Director of Policy, Planning and Research Division of the MACC (BDPP), TPj Mohd Hafaz Nazar.
