The MACC and JAKIM Collaborate To Tackle Corruption Issues

PUTRAJAYA, 26 APRIL – The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) expressed its hopes to collaborate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to eradicate corruption in this country.

The matter was discussed while the MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Azam Baki received a courtesy call from the Director General of JAKIM, Datuk Abdul Aziz Jusoh at MACC Headquarters, here, today.

Datuk Seri Azam Baki said, JAKIM and MACC need to collaborate in playing an important role to prevent corruption.

"Recently, we were exposed by the cartel issue which was responsible for the smuggling of import meats including its halal and quality status.

"I suggest JAKIM to give explanation to our officers about the halal certification process in order for us to understand the process and information more clearly,” he said.

He added, the MACC is ready to host joint activities in order to implement the anti-corruption agenda and Islamic elements as a guideline for both parties.

Also present was the Director of MACC Community Education Division, Datuk Razim Mohd Noor.
