Religious approach protects from corruption

PUTRAJAYA, 8 April - The first Integriti Lestari Hisbah Agamawan Forum (ILHAM) was hosted at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) which can increase and develop awareness about Islam.

The MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Azam Baki said, this program can continuously disseminate anti-corruption messages in the context of relationship between individuals through various religious agencies and non-governmental bodies.

"I believe that the Islamic approach is more effective and close to our hearts especially among Muslims. The words of religious leaders are often followed and affect the hearts of its listeners.

"Therefore, the religious approach is the most important necessity in becoming the barrier from committing corruption. With this kind of effort, MACC hopes that religious leaders can revitalise in disseminating messages of hating corruption to the target audience, " he said.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Azam urged everyone to continue striving in becoming humans that wants to uphold the good and preventing the bad on Allah's earth because it is our responsibility as His servants.

He said that during his speech while officiating the ILHAM Forum at MACC Headquarters, here, today.

Also present were the MACC Director of Community Education Division, Datuk Razim Mohd Noor; Director of Persatuan Ulamak Malaysia Federal Territory Branch PUMWP, Datuk Hj. Mohamad Hj. Abdullah and Head of Al-Quran and Al-Hadith Department, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, Profesor Madya Dr. Ishak Hj. Sulaiman.
