Handling Corruption Now More Challenging

PUTRAJAYA, 18 MARCH - The Chief Commissioner of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Datuk Seri Azam Baki admitted that the challenge in handling corruption during the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) era until it transformed into MACC is quite different. 

Datuk Seri Azam said, the MACC need to focus in using the latest appropriate approaches following the new era as well as the development of technology at the national and global level. 

“The MACC's efforts in handling corruption is more challenging due to the flow of information technology which is rapidly developing. 

“This matter demands MACC to be more focused and thoughtful in observing all cases and to be always in active mode in order to handle it more efficiently and effectively. 

Following the Covid-19 pandemic and guidelines compliance order in this new normal, the MACC need to observe from the perspective of anti-corruption with various ways although its implementation must be effective and impactful," he said. 

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Azam welcomes collaboration from any Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in assisting MACC especially in the effort to handle corruption symptoms because this issue is not only placed on MACC's shoulders. 

He said that during his speech at a meeting between Majlis Perundingan Melayu (MPM) and MACC about a collaboration in conducting Gerakan Jihad Rakyat (GJR) at MACC Headquarters today.
