Virtual Meeting : Exchanging Views Session On Domestic Corruption Prevention with The World Bank

PUTRAJAYA, 23 Feb - The first Exchange Views Session On Domestic Corruption Prevention with The World Bank is the new chapter of collaboration for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and National Centre for Governance Integrity and Anti-Corruption (GIACC).

This recommended collaboration and initiative will help in preventing corruption domestically and internationally. The World Bank has published the Global Corruption Report in overcoming corruption and this report has  also shown the positive examples of the developed country in fighting corruption.

During the meeting, The World Bank Country Manager for Malaysia, East Asia and Pacific, Dr. Firas Raad congratulated the MACC for creating this platform which form anti-corruption network collaboration for sharing the ideas and experiences in this matter.

"We plan to hold a Virtual Round Table Discussion (RTD) with the MACC and GIACC by involving other relevant agencies such as the Ministry of Finance, Public Service Department and others in the near future."

In addition, the World Bank intends to hold
The Opening Ceremony of the Global Corruption Report and I hope the MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Azam Baki can participate,” he said.

Datuk Seri Azam in his speech during the meeting held virtually at his office today said, the MACC welcomes this opportunity and ready to hold the RTD.

Besides that, he also hoped that GIACC could present on the achievements of the National Anti-Corruption Plan 2019-2023 during the upcoming RTD as well as panel members who will focus on their agenda and perspective along with ideas in eradicating corruption globally.

Also in attendance, the MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention), Dato' Sri Shamshun Baharin Mohd. Jamil; Director of Policy, Planning & Research MACC, TPj Mohd. Hafaz Nazar; Acting Director-General of GIACC, Farah Adura Haji Hamidi and the Lead Governance Specialist East Asia and Pacific World Bank, Rajni Bajpai.
