MAFI Determined to Fight Corruption With MACC

PUTRAJAYA, 15 Feb. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) that is leading towards the development of agriculture, livestock and fishing industries had a courtesy visit to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Headquarters, today.

The delegation which was led by the MAFI Deputy Secretary-General (Policy), Dato' Haslina Abdul Hamid arrived at 10:00 a.m.

The two hour visit became a platform for the Top Management of both parties to discuss various issues regarding the ministry that involves corruption and graft that occur in this country.

The MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Azam Baki said that this visit is to discuss the steps that can be taken by MACC to assist MAFI and various agencies under it in strengthening and improving good governance in the public sector.

"Our party also discussed about the meat issue that gained widespread media coverage where an investigation that involves enforcement agencies such as MACC and MAQIS was conducted in order to form a joint coordinated investigation".

"Among the suggestions was the establishment of a taskforce in ensuring the imported meat industry process can be made systematic and safe for consumers," he said.

Furthermore, this visit also created space and opportunity for both agencies to widely spread good practises in their respective organisations.

Also in attendance were MACC Director of Agency Integrity Management Division, KPKPj Nurahim Abd. Rahim and MAFI Chief Integrity Officer, KPKPj Azmin Yusoff.
