Op Bumi

On 16 July 2020, an operation named “Ops Bumi” was conducted by the MACC Intelligence Division where arrests have been made towards Nine (9) individuals that were involved with the new MOF account registration applications, increasing of field, update and application for the Bumiputera status of companies across Malaysia illegally without adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOP) that were set which involved five (5) personnel of the Procurement Department at the Malaysia Ministry of Finance (MOF) and four (4) private citizens.

The results of the investigations conducted towards the complaint has found that in the period of 2017 until 2020, all of the accused received bribes of between RM50.00 until RM1,500.00 from the middle party that handled every new MOF account registration applications, increasing of field, update and application for the Bumiputera status of companies across Malaysia.

All the money received by the accused were as compensation for prioritising and approving applications without adhering to the standard operating procedure (SOP) that were set.

A total of 5 investigation papers were opened involving this case. The case was investigated under Section 18 MACC Act 2009 for submitting false claims.
