MACC Arrested Najib Razak Again For Prosecution

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested former Malaysian Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd. Najib Abdul Razak regarding an investigation on the 1MDB case which involves a deposit of RM2.6 billion into his own private account.

The arrest was made this evening at 4:13 pm at MACC Headquarters, Putrajaya. Mohd. Najib will face a few charges under Section 23(1) MACC Act 2009 after a permission to prosecute was received from the Attorney General's Chambers. He will be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on 20 September 2018 at 3:00 pm for the prosecution.

MACC will also cooperate with the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) to record Mohd. Najib’s statement before he is brought to court tomorrow to assist police investigations under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities (AMLATFPUAA) Act 2001.
