Anti-Corruption Educational Activities

Anti-corruption efforts are beyond bringing offenders to justice and closing any doors that could lead towards corruption. These efforts include moral development and imbuing mindsets, by ingraining an understanding and culture of anti-corruption within the community, to invoke moral guilt and sense of shame when one is to commit fraudulent practices.

Through moral development and effective mindset, society are to be expected to compete fairly, reject corruption, and willingly cooperate with enforcement agencies. Therefore, public support is fundamental to success in the fight against corruption.

To increase public awareness and confidence in this effort, MACC has conducted various face-to-face educational activities as follows:

  1. Convention / Forum

    The convention or forum brings together leading experts from within and outside the country to share the latest information on the progress and challenges of an industry or country in the fight against corruption.

  2. Roundtable Discussion

    In an effort to reach out to target groups and the community in general, MACC also holds discussions with public and private agencies, representatives of organizations, community associations and industry players, to discuss cross-agency and community cooperation in the aspects of education, culture and anti-corruption prevention.

  3. Workshop / Seminar

    The MACC also organises workshops and seminars with public and private agencies as well as social and community associations / organizations to identify issues of corruption and governance weaknesses that exist or may exist in carrying out management, administration and procurement activities.

    The workshops and seminars organised aims to educate and provide awareness to stakeholders on the risks of leakage, as well as initiatives undertaken by MACC to ensure that corruption and leakage can be avoided by organisations and individuals.

  4. Exhibition

    Exhibition is one of the anti-corruption education activities conducted by MACC. With main focus on delivering anti-corruption information continuously to all levels of society, the exhibition is also one of the platforms for disseminating information on the functions of MACC duties, offences under the MACC Act 2009, how to report fraudulent practices and current issues related to corruption offences.

  5. Talk/Briefings

    Talks and briefings are also mediums used by MACC to spread the anti-corruption message, as well as to give an understanding on the forms of corruption offences as well as its preventive measures; and to create awareness to all levels of society on their responsibility to report corruption and to cultivate integrity in daily undertakings.

  6. Application for talk/briefing can be made in writing or online. Online applications can be made through the MACC portal and MACC Outreach application.

  7. Outreach / Walkabout Programs

    Outreach or walkabout approach is another approach for MACC officers to reach out to the community, in an effort to educate and garner support in the fight against corruption. MACC officers meets with local community in a casual setting and at the same time convey an anti-corruption message. The local community also has the opportunity to give views, seek advice and discuss with MACC officers on corruption issues.

    At the same time, the MACC also received visits from the public and private sectors, public organisations and students to take a closer look at the facilities at MACC as well as get accurate information on the roles and functions of MACC.
