The Investigation Department plays a vital role in the mission to combat corruption and to implement one of MACC’s core functions, namely investigation. The Department’s role is allocated under Section 7(a) and (b) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act (MACCA) 2009. Case investigations are carried out in group via the Management Team-Based Investigation (MTI) method to expedite the investigation process as well as producing a more transparent and quality Investigation Paper.

Investigation Department is divided into 2 main sectors, which are Public Sector and Private Sector, where the former manages cases involving Enforcement Agencies, Ministries/Government Departments and Statutory Bodies while the latter handles cases related to Government-linked Companies (GLC), Government-linked Investment Companies (GLIC), Insurance Companies, Cooperatives, Securities, The Malaysian Exchange, Financial Institutions as well as cases on private sector development.
