WITNESS PROTECTION ACT 2009

Witness Protection Act 2009 (Act 696) was presented and approved in the House of Commons on March 26, 2009 and in the Senate on April 8, 2009. The date of commencement of this Act is on 15 April 2010. This Act seeks to establish a witness protection program and for matters connected therewith.

Protection to witnesses of corruption:

• Witnesses were threatened. If the witness felt no threat, he should inform his case to the investigating officer or any officer of the MACC. Information relevant witnesses will be submitted to the Witness Protection Unit of the PMO to be registered.
