MACC Organise The MACC FIFA 21 Challenge To Spread Awareness Messages among youths

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will be organizing the MACC FIFA 21 Challenge e-sports tournament from 1st July to 17th July in an effort to spread the anti-corruption message among youths.

The MACC FIFA 21 Challenge tournament themed Youth Against Corruption is a continuation of the PUBG Mobile i-Challenge program previously organised by the MACC as an effort to reach out to Generation Z or youth groups who love e-sports.

The online competition initiated by MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Azam Baki is a two -pronged approach with the insertion of anti-corruption messages and information related to corruption crimes in the country throughout the matches.

In line with the technological boom, e-sports such as Mobile Legend, Starcraft, Counter Strike, Dota and FIFA, is now a trend among youth groups as it does not just fill the leisure time of young people but also encourages them to make e-sports a career.

Therefore, the tournament, jointly organised by the MACC and THQ Esports Club led by the youths, hopes to provide awareness and exposure to the younger generation on the effects of corruption which will not only destroy the organisation but also tarnish the image and reputation of the country.

The MACC FIFA 21 Challenge, held for the first time, shows that the MACC took advantage of the use of technology during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which affected anti-corruption education programs and activities that were previously conducted face to face.

At the same time, the virtual platform also allows the MACC to reach out to targeted groups to deliver anti-corruption messages even though the country is currently facing a Movement Control Order (PKP) to curb the pandemic.

At the first stage, a total of 13 states and three Federal Territories will start competing from 1st July to 16th July and the champion of each state will qualify for the final stage on 17th July.

The winners of the competition will take home a total cash prize of RM20,000, with the first place taking home RM5,000 in cash, followed by the second place (RM3,000) and the third place (RM2,000).

For the fourth place, the winner will take home RM1,000 cash and the Top 8 (RM700); Top 16 (RM375) and the Top 32 (RM200).

The MACC FIFA 21 Challenge, which will be participated by 2,048 e-sports athletes, will be broadcasted live on the official Facebook page of Team Haq Esports Club and the MACC Community.
