MACC Investigates Deputy Chairman Of A Political Party

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirmed the arrest of Deputy Chairman of a political party linked to a former minister on suspicion of accepting bribes from several companies that acquired projects from a ministry in 2019.

Also detained in the operation carried out around Ipoh yesterday were two company directors.

Meanwhile, the MACC has seized RM1.2 million in cash believed to be bribe money kept in the house and proxy office of the former minister and Deputy Chairman.

This commission also seized a luxury car used by the former minister as an official vehicle which is believed to belong to a company director whose project was approved.

To date, several company and individual accounts worth RM77 million have been frozen for investigation purposes.

Currently, the investigation is still ongoing and the MACC hopes all parties avoid making any speculations regarding this investigation.
