Launching Ceremony of Hearing Disabled Site and MoU Ceremony between MACC and Malaysia Federation of the Deaf

PUTRAJAYA, 22 September – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in partnership with the Malaysia Federation of the Deaf (MFD) launched a Hearing Disabled Site and a Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony.

This launching ceremony was officiated by the MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention), Datuk Seri Norazlan Mohd Razali at the MFD Office, Puchong in conjunction with the International Deaf Week celebrated every year in the last week of September, together with the International Sign Language Day.

In his speech, he said that exposure and the approach to increase public knowledge on corruption issues must be enhanced, in addition to fostering support and involvement of all levels of society, including the hearing and other disabled communities to come forth and report corruption to MACC.

MACC hopes to train its officers as signers to disseminate anti-corruption messages to the hearing disabled community nationwide.

The Memorandum of Understanding in force for three years also takes into account the aspect of confidentiality, and any information or document and data channeled are categorised as CONFIDENTIAL.

This cooperation aligns with one of the four Disabled Policy Objectives which is the principle that the disabled should have the same right and opportunity for full participation in society.

Also in attendance were the Director of MACC Community Education Division, Datuk Razim Mohd Noor and the President of MFD, Mr. Mohamad Sazali Shaari.
