JOHOR BARU: A married couple has been arrested for allegedly making false claims worth RM40,000 from a government agency.
According to a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) source, the two suspects, aged 30 and 32, were arrested at 11.30am on Sunday (Feb 13) at the MACC office here.
The source added that between 2020 and 2021, the wife, who had been working as an administrative assistant at a government department, used her position to give supply work to a company in Kluang that belonged to her husband.
However, the company submitted claims for work that was not carried out.
State MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 23 and Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
It is learnt the suspects would be taken to a Magistrate's Court here on Monday (Feb 14) for a remand order application.
