Adat Perpatih Encircles Life Of Integrity
SEREMBAN, 7 Dec. - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) together with its strategic partner, the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) of Negeri Sembilan, organised the ‘Adat Perpatih Encircles Life of Integrity’ Anti-Corruption Colloquium which aimed to convey the awareness of moral values through the Adat Perpatih platform as a vessel to fight corruption.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Dato' Sri Haji Azam Baki said the Adat Perpatih is a guideline for living which is practiced by the people of Negeri Sembilan and Naning in Malacca since time immemorial.
“In the aspect of corruption prevention, I see that the Adat Perpatih also plays an important role and is useful to create a society of integrity and accountability.”
“Acts of corruption will not occur if people understand the present laws,” he said.
He added that with the cooperation of all parties, corruption will not become a culture in life. Therefore, the trusts and duties that have been given must be carried with full integrity. Even though it is seen as a heavy responsibility, there are great rewards.
He said this during his speech at the ‘Adat Perpatih Encircles Life of Integrity’ Anti-Corruption Colloquium Ceremony at Auditorium D’Sury, JKKN Negeri Sembilan Complex.
In addition, Institute of Malay World and Civilization (ATMA), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Senior Research Fellow, Associate Professor Dato' Paduka Dr. Mohd Rosli Saludin presented Paper I entitled ‘Teromba Jenayah Adat Perpatih’; while Paper II was presented by the Director of MACC Community Education Division, Datuk Razim Mohd Noor entitled ‘Bebas Rasuah: Memantapkan Budaya Beradat’ while Paper III was presented by the Yang Di Pertua Dewan Negara, YB Senator Tan Sri Dato' Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim entitled ‘Adat dan Perlembagaan Undang-Undang’.
In attendance were Director General of JKKN, Tuan Haji Mesran Mohd Yusop; Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) of MACC, Datuk Seri Norazlan Mohd Razali; Deputy Director General (Policy & Planning) of JKKN, Salehhuddin Md Salleh; Deputy Director General (Arts and Culture) of JKKN, Mohd Amran Mohd Haris; Director of Negeri Sembilan State MACC Office, KPKPj Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail; Director of JKKN Negeri Sembilan, Rahmat Haji Md Noh; Director of Negeri Sembilan State Museum Board, Drs Shamsuddin Ahmad and Director of MACC Strategic Communication Division, PKPj Kamaruddin M Ripin.
