MACC Welcomes Commitment Of MOT to Fight Corruption

Kuala Lumpur, 24 Nov. - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) welcomes the initiative by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) to publish the MOT Anti-Corruption Management Policy System & Code of Ethics and Conduct Book to prove its commitment to reject corruption.

The MACC Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Azam Baki said the publication of the book is part of the initiatives which were outlined under the Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) of the MOT and is a significant move to uphold the aspiration of zero tolerance against corruption.

“A total of 67 initiatives were outlined under the OACP of the MOT that encompass four Main Fields which are procurement, law enforcement, financial management and administration, as well as governance.

“These initiatives are able to enhance efficiency and transparency of government management based on principles of governance in order to ensure the country can successfully break free from the chains of corruption which can disrupt the country,” he said.

He said this at the Launching Ceremony of the MOT Anti-Corruption Management Policy System & Code of Ethics and Conduct Book at the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) Headquarters here, today.

He said the launch showed the commitment of all MOT staff, departments and agencies under the MOT to address problems and weaknesses in the aspect of governance, integrity as well as corruption misconduct.

He added that the MACC will continue to support the efforts of the MOT to ensure the six core functions for the establishment of the Integrity Unit at the ministry are implemented, namely governance, strengthening of integrity, identification and verification, complaints management, compliance and discipline as outlined in the Service Circular No. 6 of 2013.

The launching ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Transport Malaysia, Datuk Seri Ir. Dr. Wee Ka Siong.

In attendance were Deputy Minister of MOT, Dato' Henry Sum Agong; Secretary General of MOT, Datuk Isham Ishak; Chief Corporate Officer of KTMB who represented the Chief Operating Officer of KTMB, Mohamed Suhaimi Yaacob, Senior Director of MACC Special Operations Division of MOT who is also the former Head of Integrity Unit of MOT, Dato' Tan Kang Sai; new Head of Integrity Unit of MOT, KPKPj Ramli Ismail and Director of MACC Strategic Communication Division, PKPj Kamaruddin M. Ripin.
