Integrity, The Work Culture of Excellence

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Nov.- Integrity is a very important aspect in our daily lives. The issue of integrity is not only focused on issues of corruption alone, but it is a much larger concept. The Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Datuk Seri Norazlan Mohd Razali said an excellent work culture is closely related to integrity such as punctuality, delivery of authentic information, maintaining the confidentiality of information and interaction between colleagues.

“Organisations that do not value integrity in their daily affairs will not last long. The author Samuel Johnson once said, ‘Integrity without knowledge is weak and useless, and knowledge without integrity is dangerous and dreadful'.”

"Efforts to increase the value of organisational integrity are also in line with the country's anti-corruption aspirations and agenda through the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) 2019-2023 where one of the priority areas is STRATEGY 6.1, which is to foster good governance in corporate entities to ensure the companies are accountable to stakeholders and not just to shareholders.

"This initiative is to ensure that corporate entities possess high resilience against the threat of corruption while doing business," he said.

He added that efforts to enhance the culture of integrity and fight corruption in the country cannot rely solely on the enforcement actions by the MACC alone. In fact, efforts to eradicate corruption will not succeed without the cooperation of all parties.

He said this while attending the Khazanah Integrity Event at the Mercu UEM here today.

Also present was Khazanah Nasional Managing Director, Dato’ Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir.
