300 Private Higher Learning Institution Lecturers Participate in ToT for Integrity and Anti-Corruption Course

PUTRAJAYA, 26-27 Oct – 300 lecturers from private higher learning institutions (HLI) participated in the Training of Trainers (ToT) session for the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Course (KIAR). This programme was organised by the Higher Learning Department, Ministry of Higher Education in collaboration with the MACC Community Education Division. This ToT session is the first out of four series planned specifically for private HLI lecturers.

On 19 April 2021, the Special Cabinet Committee on Anti-Corruption (JKKMAR) agreed for all HLIs in Malaysia to offer KIAR. It will be offered as an elective course effective from 2021 and as a compulsory course in 2023.

As preparation to offer KIAR in HLIs, MOHE and MACC are cooperating to conduct several ToT series to future lecturers of the course. Previously, training sessions have been conducted to lecturers from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia on 5 and 12 June 2021 (as a pilot project for ToT), 18 public universities (7 and 8 August 2021), 35 Universiti Teknologi MARA campuses (16 and 17 August 2021), 36 Polytechnics and 104 Community Colleges (13 and 14 September 2021).

The main objective of ToT is to provide exposure to all lecturers involved in coordinating KIAR about topics contained in the course. In each ToT session, there are three sharing sessions to make it more interesting, which is delivered by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia as the first public university to offer KIAR, a sharing session about experience in MACC investigation on high-profile cases and a sharing session with an ex-corruption offender.
