Collaboration Between MACC And The Media Needs To Be Aligned To Disseminate Anti-Corruption Messages

PUTRAJAYA, 29 Sept. – Collaboration, understanding and vision between the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the media has to be aligned to disseminate anti-corruption messages to the public.

The MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Azam Baki said, the media needs to maintain the momentum of excellence and commitment which they have  shown and to continue to support the efforts of the MACC to prevent corruption for the prosperity of the country and well-being of the people.

“Issues of corruption has to be reported with full responsibility to educate the public on the dangers of corruption to the country.

“Each role of the MACC also needs to be clarified to the public continuously so the public’s level of confidence towards the role of MACC will increase,” he said.

He said that during the MACC Media Award Presentation Ceremony 2020 which was held virtually here, today.

This is the first-time the ceremony was organised by the MACC to recognise the journalistic works of the print and electronic media on issues of corruption.

In the event, the two categories contested were the Print Media Award and the Electronic Media Award. The winner was chosen based on the best news reported on anti-corruption which was published in their respective media platforms from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2020.

Meanwhile, the Launching Ceremony for the ‘Buku Tinta SPRM 2020’ and ‘Kompilasi Edaran & Lensa SPRM 2020’ was also held. The launch of both books was officiated by the Director of MACC Strategic Communication Division (BKS), PKPj Kamaruddin M. Ripin with the symbolic handover to Datuk Seri Azam Baki.

Both books were the initiatives of BKS in the effort to keep the articles and writings on activities during the entire year of 2020 in the form of a printed archive as a reference for MACC staff.
