MACC Attends 8th APEC ACT-NET Meeting

PUTRAJAYA, 18 Feb. - The 8th APEC Network of Anti-Corruption Authorities and Law Enforcements Agencies (ACT-NET) Meeting was held virtually at the Policy, Planning and Research Division Meeting Room, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

This meeting was chaired by the Deputy Chief Executive Corporate and Strategy, Graham Gill from the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), New Zealand.

This meeting was attended by 18 APEC member countries namely Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Republic of Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, United States of America and Vietnam.

Graham Gill welcomed MACC’s efforts in combating corruption and congratulated MACC in successfully hosting the 7th ACT-NET Meeting held last October.

In the meeting, MACC had presented the efforts of introducing anti-corruption measures which were recommended by the Inspection and Consultancy Division through an Inspection Paper pertaining to the practises, systems and work procedures involving bauxite export activities in Pahang.

MACC also shared the success of the just concluded ‘Ops Selat’ operations which was headed by the Investigation Division which saw a number of Immigration officers detained and charged for graft offences.

Among the presentation papers that were presented by other economic countries were Australia, that had introduced a public and private sector initiatives regarding Bribery Prevention Network and the United Kingdom Cabinet Office which presented anti-corruption measures in the Covid-19 vaccination phase.

MACC was represented by TPj Mohd Hafaz Nazar, who is the Director of Policy, Planning and Research Division, MACC.
