The Virtual Launching of JBPM-MACC Anti-corruption Tour Program
PUTRAJAYA, 19 Feb. - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) together with the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) will hold the JPBM-MACC Anti-Corruption Tour program with a smart partnership approach to support the fight against corruption in the country.
It is one of the steps taken by JBPM and the MACC to instil a culture of integrity among JBPM officers. Among the activities recommended for the JBPM-MACC Anti-Corruption Tour Program is a big bike convoy by the MACC and JBPM to travel to fire stations nationwide to continuously spread anti-corruption messages, implement integrity empowerment and anti-corruption education programs in a strategic partnership between the two departments.
The MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention), Dato' Sri Shamshun Baharin Mohd. Jamil in his speech held virtually at his office today said, corruption is a major problem that undermines the credibility of civil servants.
"The questionnaire distributed during the International Anti-Corruption Day 2018 is quite surprising when 418 out of 3,810 respondents were civil servants or 11% admitted to commit corruption if they had the power and opportunity." he said.
This attitude is agitating and even sadder when civil servants are the group most arrested for the symptoms. Every year, almost half of the total arrests made by the MACC are involving civil servants," he said
Besides that, he also hoped that this program will successfully form JBPM officers towards integrity and the MACC is highly committed to provide assistance and contribution together to make it successful.
This program was launched virtually by the Director-General of JBPM, Dato' Sri Mohammad Hamdan Hj. Wahid at the JBPM and followed by JBPM at every state.
Also presence, the Director of Community Education of MACC, Datuk Razim Mohd Noor.
