Jakim Officer Charged For Making False Claims Amounting RM34,740
An Islamic Affair officer attached with the Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (Jakim) Sarawak, was charged at the Special Court for Corruption, Kuching for allegedly making false claims amounting to RM34,740.
Ahmad Tarzidi Ahmad Tarmezi, 30, pleaded unguilty to five charges before Judge Nixon Kennedy Kumbong.
Ahmad Tarzidi had allegedly made the false claims for supplies of goods and food and beverages for an event by JAKIM branch in Kuching which did not take place.
The offenses were committed in his office at Jalan P.Ramlee, Kuching between 28 January and 26 May last year.
Ahmad Tarzidi was charged under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 and if convicted could be fine five times the value of the claims or RM10,000 and up to 20 years imprisonment.
The court set bail at RM10,000 with two sureties. The court has fixed June 6 for the mentioning of the case.
The prosecution on behalf of MACC was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor How Low Chin.
