Kota Bharu, February 7, 2013 – A briefing on anti-corruption was held in conjunction with the celebration of Prophet Muhammad's birthday 1434H at the Kelantan MACC Complex. The briefing was attended by 250 participants representing 30 government departments across the state of Kelantan.
The aim of the programme was to increase the awareness and understanding on the offences under the MACC Act 2009 as well as to provide a better understanding on the roles and functions of the MACC in fighting corruption. In addition, the gathering also aimed at strengthening ties between MACC officers and officers from the various government departments in Kelantan in forging the needed support in combating corruption.
The three-hour lecture began with the opening delivery by MACC's State Director of Kelantan, Chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Nor Rasmi Bin Shari presenting the topic on "Together Fighting Corruption". Next was Ustaz Abdul Aziz Yahya with a talk titled "Anti-Corruption In the Islamic Perspective" which illustrated stories from the life of Prophet Muhammad SAW. Both talks indirectly created awareness among the participants on corruption offences and penalties both in the context of the law as well as in the Islamic perspective.
The lecture session concluded with the ceremonious ritual of the "salawat" upon the Prophet Muhammad SAW by Ustaz Abdul Aziz.
