Five Appointed As New MACC Complaints Committee Members
The Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Dato' Sri Mohd Shukri Abdull has presented a letter of appointment to experts from various fields as Members of the Complaints Committee effective for three years from 3 October 2018 to 3 October 2021.
The influential figures comprise former Deputy Director-General of the Malaysian Public Service, Dato 'Ahmad Said; former Sabah Federal Secretary, Datuk Muhammad Hatta Ab.Aziz, and former Director of MACC Human Resources Management Division, Rohani Kadir.
Meanwhile, the remaining two figures appointed are former Deputy Secretary-General, Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Dr. Tam Weng Wah and former Deputy Director-General of Education, Datuk Dr. Asariah Mior Shaharuddin.
The Complaints Committee is legally established under Section 15 of the MACC Act 2009 (Act 694) to identify weaknesses in the Commission’s work procedures as well as to monitor its handling of complaints of non-criminal misconduct against its officers.
The MACC is the only enforcement agency in Malaysia with independent bodies acting as a check and balance mechanism.
