Putrajaya, 17 June – The Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Latheefa Koya today met with Julien Garsany, Deputy Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) during his courtesy visit at the MACC Headquarters.
“The meeting is indeed a proactive move towards establishing a better understanding on the duties and authority of MACC in the fight against corruption, embezzlement and abuse of power,” said Latheefa Koya.
Garsay agreed that fighting corruption is everybody’s responsibilities and this problem must be address in a greater context. The community must also play an important role in helping the enforcement agency to fight corruption at large.
During the meeting, various issues were discussed, among others, the strengthening of the relationship between MACC and UNODC, exchange of opinions on current issues that pertain to corruption, embezzlement and abuse of power.
The visit also allows MACC to share its best practices on a continuous basis with UNODC.
Director of Policy, Planning and Research Division (PPRD), Dato’ Nor Azmi Karim and Director of Anti-Money Laundering (AMLA) Division TPj Mohamad Zamri Zainul Abidin were also present during the meeting.
