Leaders, Civil Servants, Have To Be Trustworthy And Honest In Carrying Their Duty

SHAH ALAM, 26th March - Leaders as well as government officials must prioritize ethics based on good values and honesty while carrying out responsibilities that are entrusted upon them.

Sultan Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj IbniAlmarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj said there is no meaning of advancement for one’s country if the leader and public servants are not reliable and upright in carrying out their commissions. 

“I would like to remind all leaders and public officers not to ever be involved in any form of bribery, including violating the power they have for their own sake or certain individuals’ whilst fulfilling their duty.

“Being a politician or public officer is not about wealth and we need to recall our oath of office that we have pledged on which is to serve with integrity and honesty to our people,” he added.  

He said so during the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Complex Opening Ceremony, state of Selangor here, today.

Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan SharafuddinIdris Shah Alhaj were present at the function.

Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations), Datuk Seri Azam Baki; Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention), Dato’ Shamshun Baharin Mohd Jamil; Deputy Chief Commissioner (Management & Professionalism), Dato’ Ja’afar Mahad and district and state MACC officers also attended the ceremony. 

Meanwhile, Chief Commissioner of the MACC, Dato' Sri Mohd. Shukri Abdull said, bribery is like the thorn in government’s side and if prolonged, it can jeopardize the justice that good values can bring and threatens the harmony of a state and a country. 

“Given this fact, an approach based on the slogan 'Rasuah Dihina, Maruah Dibina' has been introduced in conjunction with The 51st Anniversary of the establishment of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) / MACC on 1st October 2018. 

As a single agency that has a legal mandate to prevent corruption, the MACC is also obliged to remain free in carrying out its responsibilities with professional and transparent attitude to create an environment for the people along with a country that is free from corruption.” he said.
