KUALA LUMPUR, 28 January – Around 60 TNB senior officials from top management level and Subsidiary Companies attended a Corporate Liability Briefing that was presented by MACC Inspection and Consultancy Division Officer PKPj Siti Zakiah Che Man.
The two-hour briefing entitled ‘Section 17 A: Legal Implications’ was presented in conjunction with the ‘Seminar TNB Corporate Integrity Management System - Strengthening Integrity Through Good Corporate Governance’ at the Connexion Conference and Event Centre, Kampung Kerinchi on 24 January.
Objectives, offences, penalty, defence under Seksyen 17A as well as Guidelines on Adequate Procedures (Trust Principles) and a summary of the Skansen Case were part and parcel of the Briefing.
Following that, a Question-and-Answer Session was held. Issues that were addressed include usage of Support Letter by Contractors, false claim, accepting and receiving of gifts, corruption cases involving GLC/ telecommunication companies, political will of the government to fight corruption among others.
Last but not least, the TNB Integrity Unit requested for further Briefings on Corporate Liability for all its officers and staff in near future to strengthen their understanding and inculcate awareness.
They suggested that future Briefings would be held at the Institut Latihan Sultan Ahmad Shah (ILSAS) in Kajang.
