KUCHING, 25 January – The Sarawak Cabinet, led by the new Chief Minister, Ybhg. Datuk Amar Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, made history today as the first state government to sign the Corruption-Free Pledge introduced by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The ceremony, witnessed by the Chief Commissioner of MACC, Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Paul Low Seng Kuan, was also joined by newly appointed Cabinet ministers and assistant ministers.

This initiative reflects the Sarawak state government’s dedication in ensuring a more transparent administration, free from all forms of corruption and abuse of power.

The Corruption-Free Pledge is a recent effort by MACC which emphasises on the pledge of an individual to shoulder responsibility to avoid involvement in any form of corruption in official matters.

MACC hopes that this initiative will be able to preserve and enhance the rakyat’s confidence towards MACC and the Sarawak state government in their effort to continuously fight corruption and abuse of power.
