KUALA LUMPUR, 23 Aug – In conjunction with its golden anniversary, MACC launched the staging of “Bahara Emas” theatre, which will be staged for four days beginning 19 to 22 October 2017 at Auditorium DBP. This production also marks MACC’s first foray into the local theatre scene.
“The Bahara Emas theatre that is MACC’s brainchild will be organised in collaboration with CTRA Production, Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka, Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA) and Istana Budaya”, said the Chief Commissioner of MACC, Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad at the launching ceremony.
The theatre is written and directed by the Dean of the ASWARA Theatre Faculty, Ms. Rosminah Mohd Tahir while the Director of Music is Datuk Suhaimi Mohd Zin (Pak Ngah).
In the spirit of MACC, the play centres on anti-corruption messages, illustrating how dangerous corruption is that it can destroy even famed and powerful governments like the Malacca Sultanate.
The acting line-up stars veterans as well as up-and-coming actors including Faradhiya Amir, Izzue Islam, Eyzendy Aziz, Esma Daniel, Amar Asyraf, Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan, Mardiana Alwi and Kumpulan Forteen, among others.
“It is hoped that this theatre will garner positive reception among the public; the opportunity is limited to less than 3,000 viewers. What makes it more interesting is that the play will opened to the public for free,” added Datuk Dzulkifli.
